Hereditary Disorders of Connective Tissue & Bone

Hereditary musculoskeletal disorders that affect connective tissue or bone can be divided into three groups. These include:

• Hereditary disorders of connective tissue . Examples of disorders in this group include: Ehlers-Danlos syndrome ; Marfan's syndrome ; pseudoxanthoma elasticum ; cutis laxa ; and mucopolysaccharidoses .
• Osteochondrodysplasias are hereditary disorders that affect bone or cartilage.
• Osteopetroses are hereditary disorders, which affect bone.
