Hormonal tests, such as serum or urinary oestriols or serum
human placental lactogen , have been used to monitor . These methods of surveillance are no longer very popular.
This is perhaps more because of the cost of these tests and the time required
in obtaining a result, than due to any false diagnosis that may arise
from these techniques.
