Procedure: Hormonal Tests

Hormonal tests, such as serum or urinary oestriols or serum human placental lactogen , have been used to monitor postterm pregnancies . These methods of surveillance are no longer very popular. This is perhaps more because of the cost of these tests and the time required in obtaining a result, than due to any false diagnosis that may arise from these techniques.
