OTC drugs such as aspirin, ibuprofen, ketoprofen and naproxen as well as being analgesics , also have anti-inflammatory properties. All are reasonably safe to use for short periods. However, if symptoms get worse or do not go away, a doctor should be consulted.

There are two major types of anti-inflammatory drug :

Anti-inflammatory medications reduce the symptoms and signs of inflammation .
