The heath family is principally composed of evergreen shrubs native to Europe. Heaths thrive on acid soil and, thus are often found on moors, swamps and mountain-sides. Members of the Ericaceae family include the fruit-bearing blueberry, cranberry and huckleberry as well as the rhododendron, azalea, trailing arbutusis and true heaths (genus Erica ). [ 2 ]
